The Tourism West Coast Whitebait Festival Photography Competition 2011 is open to West Coat locals and visitors to submit images in digital format. The competition will coincide with REAL Festival 2011/Rugby World Cup 2011 and the West Coast Whitebait Festival. Entries will be accepted between August 1st and October 14th 2011. The following categories will be included:

Overall Winner
Stephen Rawlingson – Omeoroa Lagoon $1000 voucher
· The competition is open to all West Coast residents and visitors.
· Entrants may submit one image per author in any or all of the competition categories.
· Images must be submitted as JPEGs with a maximum size of 1024 pixels on the larger side.
· Images can be taken by the author using a film camera or digital.
· Images can be enhanced, manipulated, or just as it was taken.
· All work must be that of the entrant (a computer generated fractal will not be accepted).
Enter simply by emailing your images to Dominic Moran at morantourism@xtra.co.nz.
The covering e-mail should include:
· The image
· The author’s name
· Image title
· Competition category (i.e. West Coast Places, West Coast People, West Coast Whitebait)
· Full contact details for the author.
Images can be submitted at any time from August 1st until the closing date of Friday October 14th at 5pm. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of Tourism West Coast.
At the end of the competition period the co-ordinator will submit all of the images received to a panel of judges.
The panel of judges will consist of three members including a representative from Tourism West Coast, a regional identity (to be announced) and a photography professional (to be announced).
Judges, Tourism West Coast employees and their families are not eligible to enter the competition.
The top two images from each category will be selected by the panel of judges to find 1st, and 2nd place getters.
An overall winning image will then be selected from the top images in each category.
The overall winning image and the place getters from each category will be awarded a prize.
Prizes will include a $100 voucher for camera equipment for second placed category winners, a $200 voucher for camera equipment for first placed category winners and a $1000 voucher for camera equipment for the overall competition winner.
The prize is final and cannot be transferred to other people or changed for a cash equivalent.
Once images are submitted as part of this competition, ownership and copyright will remain the property of the author of the image. However, Tourism West Coast will have full rights of use of the images for their promotional and marketing materials.
Tourism West Coast reserves the right to reproduce any image submitted as part of this competition for publicity or any other purposes.
At the end of the competition the results will be posted on the Tourism West Coast website. The winning images will also be displayed on the Tourism West Coast website.
Participants must accept and abide by all rules and regulations set out herein.
Employees of Tourism West Coast or any of the partner companies, their families, press, agencies or any persons directly or indirectly connected with a particular “West Coast Whitebait Festival” project are not eligible to enter.
Tourism West Coast reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants.
The decision of judges is final and conclusive in all circumstances and no correspondence will be entered into.
Tourism West Coast reserves the right, in its reasonable discretion, to add to or to waive any Terms on reasonable notice.
Tourism West Coast cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by you in entering the competition or as a result of accepting any prize.
