Lake Brunner is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations on the West Coast. The main township of Lake Brunner, Moana, is situated at the northern end of the lake. On the western shores is Mitchells, a small settlement and home to the Lake Brunner lodge and Station.
Lake Brunner is well serviced as a holiday destination. Services within Moana include a good selection of accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes, hotel, café/restaurant and service centre for motoring needs and grocery supplies. It also has a variety or land and water based activities, rainforest and mountain walks and a well established pottery studio and workshop,
The lake, surrounding rivers and streams offer some of the best brown trout fishing in New Zealand, with year round finishing (by license) on the lake and some rivers. Fishing guides, licenses, tackle and tackle hire are available locally.
Lake Brunner – with its resplendent bird life, wetland and rainforest ecosystems, easy walks, and safe swimming bays – is the perfect place for a family holiday.
